
Anna and her family have lived in the 43rd District since 1997, when she and her husband Marc chose Elgin, IL as a place to live and raise their two daughters, Madeline and Eleanor.
Meet Anna Moeller
State Representative, 43rd District of Illinois
Anna Moeller has proudly served the 43rd District in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2014. A proven leader and tireless advocate for equity, transparency, and opportunity, she currently chairs the pivotal Health and Human Services Appropriations Committee and leads the Medicaid Working Group. She also co-chairs the House Progressive Caucus, the House Green Caucus, and serves on the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA)—a key bicameral, bipartisan panel guiding state fiscal policy.
In the House, Anna serves on critical committees including Human Services, Energy & Environment, Education K-12 Licensing and Administration and Healthcare Licensing. She has previously chaired the Human Services, Aging, and Healthcare Licensing Committees.
Throughout her tenure, Anna has been a legislative leader on:

- Consumer Protections
- Healthcare access and affordability
- Environmental stewardship
- Reproductive rights and LGBTQ equality
- Nursing home and Medicaid reform
- Support for immigrants and survivors of sexual violence
A Career of Public Service
Before joining the General Assembly, Anna built a strong record in local government and civic engagement. She served as:
- Councilwoman for the City of Elgin (elected 2011)
- Founding Executive Director, McHenry County Council of Governments
- Assistant Village Administrator for the Village of Lake in the Hills
Her early career includes service as a Legislative Aide in the Illinois General Assembly, a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C., and an ESL teacher in Andorra, Europe.
Anna holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Northern Illinois University. She has earned multiple honors for her leadership, including:
- Paul Simon Courage in Public Service Award (Lutheran Social Services of Illinois)
- Agent of Change Award (AAUW of Illinois)
- Environmental Leadership Award (Illinois Environmental Council)
- Fellowships from the Edgar Fellows Program, the Council of State Governments Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership, and Toll Fellowship from the Council of State Governments

Anna is not only a legislator—she’s a lifelong community advocate. She has served on the Elgin Planning and Development Commission, Human Relations Commission, and as a PTO Treasurer, neighborhood association vice president, and literacy tutor.
